We fund programs that produce results we can point to — fewer NICU admissions, more prenatal visits kept, more babies going home safely.
JB-LF funds innovative programs that increase access to care — then measures whether they worked.
We funded remote prenatal monitoring for high-risk obstetric patients at Virginia Hospital Center's Outpatient Clinic, running from 2017 to 2020. The results were strong enough that VHC expanded the model to all pregnant patients.
Piloted in 2021–22, OB Connect paired expectant mothers with dedicated care nursing and remote "Continuing Care Visits" by secure video, plus at-home care kits, an educational app and Spanish-language materials — free to patients at VHC's Outpatient Clinic.
Launched during the pandemic to supply newborn essentials — promoting safe sleep and breastfeeding while distributing car seats, portable cribs, diapers, strollers and baby books to families who need them.
We support a DC-wide research project developing and implementing strategies that reduce obstacles to screening for stress, depression and anxiety during pregnancy.
Because a healthy start doesn't end at delivery, we've funded newborn checkups for families who could not otherwise afford them.
